Colin Weir is an audio and video production specialist for Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he spends most of his time editing video and building interactive DVD menus.

Editing experience aside, Colin has extensive knowledge of content delivery methods for multiple platforms, including traditional mediums such as DVD and new media like podcasting and web streaming.

While Colin’s education prepared him to fill any number of roles in a production environment (editing, shooting, technical direction, etc), his passion lies in exploring and leveraging new technologies and mediums. He currently streams several distance learning program classes at Jefferson on a weekly basis, and recently assisted with the recording and live streaming of Ignite Philly. Colin isn’t a stranger social video sharing and is always seeking new opportunities.

An internship at MSNBC in audio post-production spurred an interest in the creation of station imaging at Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM, where he also appeared as an on-air personality and hosted several music-based programs from 2004 to 2008. He also served as traffic director from 2006 to 2008, where he managed spot-placement and billing, and helped to develop the workflow and protocol for the station’s entry into podcasting. In addition, he assisted with the design and deployment of the new station homepage and developed the Dashboard widget for accessing the station’s online stream.

Colin is a quick learner and a techie at heart. He enjoys exploring new software and is always interested in (and later critiquing) new technology. His other skills include motion graphics and animation and the deployment and maintenance of complex AV systems and setups.

Finally, Colin is the author of the SEPTA Watch blog, which covers public transportation issues in Philadelphia.
